Game 3 - Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois

Starters: BOS - Pedro Martinez    CHI: Carlos Zambrano

If you expect to beat Pedro Martinez, you have to be darn close to perfect. In the top of the fourth inning, Carlos Zambrano was anything but, walking David Ortiz and Trot Nixon to start the inning before uncorking a wild pitch that allowed both runners to advance. Ortiz would score on a sacrifice fly by Garciaparra, Nixon would score when Todd Walker beat out a potential double-play ball at first base with two out. The Cubs lone run would come in the sixth when Aramis Ramirez singled home Sammy Sosa. But the Red Sox immediately responded when Johnny Damon laced a single down the right-field line that scored Jason Varitek.

Starters: BOS - John Burkett        CHI: Matt Clement
WP: Clement, LP: Burkett

Kenny Lofton set the tone early in Game 4, singling, stealing second and scoring on a single through the hole by Mark Grudzielanek. While Burkett wouldn’t survive a five-run fifth inning, Clement shined (amazingly), taking a no-hitter into the sixth. Eric Karros hit a three-run shot and Ramirez would drive in two for the Cubbies. Boston’s lone run would come on a Nixon solo-shot in the ninth.

    You articulated your thoughts well and have a good voice. But the early part of the story promised to take us somewhere new, and the rest of the article rehashed what Chicago and Boston fans have been trying to forget for the last several years...
