Q&A
Did your pre-draft strategy work out?
I missed the first few rounds so it just went on auto, which worked out quite well, as I ended up with LT. I did, however, draft too many running backs and not enough WRs in the opening rounds as a consequence of this. Once I arrived, after getting the time wrong and dealing with the modem from hell I tried to just get the best value I could!
Were there any surprises?
That Jon Kitna was sat waiting for me in the ninth, I think that’s a steal! I’m also surprised at some other QBs that were left waiting towards the very end. I picked up Big Ben late on as a backup. I know he threw way too many INTs last year but the man had just nearly killed himself! I reckon he’s ripe for a good season this year.
What do you see as your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
I think running backs definitely have to be the strength of my team, with LT, Deuce McAllister, Thomas Jones in the starting line-up and Fred Taylor alongside Jamal Lewis on the bench. Although with Kitna, Big Ben and Steve McNair QB is looking good too!
Who was your best pick?
Best pick: LT but for value I think Jon Kitna in the ninth round.
Who was your worst pick?
Worst pick was my TE, Bo Scaife. I’ve never heard of him and mainly picked him as his name was Bo and he seemed the best of a bad bunch.
Who do you think had the best pick in the draft?
Whoever got Peyton Manning!
Whose pick had you shaking your head the most?
Someone selecting Rex Grossman, that’s a bad call, someone in the draft room. I believe referred to him as the noodle arm. Seems about right. Look at his performance against the Colts, ouch!
Who do you think had the best draft?
Andy is certainly looking a dangerous team. I’m quite glad I’m not in that conference.
Whose team do you think is the worst to start the season?
Not sure where the editor’s going with his selections, so I’ve got to say David Hale, but I have to trash talk him. He’s going to get a sound beating in week one!

Q&A
Did your pre-draft strategy work out?
Not really. I grabbed Holt in Round 2 despite my plan to take back-to-back running backs, but things still fell into place after that. I have solid RB depth, though no one who stands out as a star other than Jackson. I’m very concerned about Portis’ health, and I couldn’t get Ladell Betts for insurance.
Were there any surprises?
Quite a few minor ones, but nothing that truly stood out. Didn’t think Alexander should go No. 3, but hey, there are no sure things.
What do you see as your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
I have a lot of depth at running back, which hopefully makes for some trade bait during the season. I love my 1-2 combo at WR of Holt and Williams, but wish I’d grabbed a better No. 2 tailback than Portis.
Who was your best pick?
Landing Williams in Round 5 was nice, and I’m happy with the running back depth I picked up late in Jones and Bell.
Who was your worst pick?
Portis worries me, but in the third round, he was good value. I definitely took Norwood too early.
Who had the best pick in the draft?
I think a number of teams, myself included, got steals with No. 1-type WR in Round 5. Driver, Housh, Williams, Boldin, Moss and Andre Johnson are all capable of big things. Among the later rounds, I think Vaughn’s selection of Chris Brown in the 14th round was a huge steal.
Whose pick had you shaking your head the most?
Every time a kicker is taken before the last round, I feel like sending that person a Christmas card that reads “Thanks, dumbass, for helping my draft.” Never take a kicker before the last round.
Who do you think had the best draft?
I’m happy with my team, but Nic Wood’s squad really stood out to me. I think he’s the team to beat on paper.
Whose team do you think is the worst to start the season?
Adam’s going to have some QB problems, I think, but the rest of his team is solid. Vaughn’s team has some real holes with Furrey and Chester Taylor playing vital roles. No one’s stands out as truly awful though, which I suppose makes the league more fun.

Q&A
Did your pre-draft strategy work out?
Yes, I got who I was looking to get.
Were there any surprises?
The quality of QBs that were available late was surprising.
What do you see as your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
The strengths of my team are Defense and QBs. The weakness of my team is WR.
Who was your best pick?
My best pick was Jay Cutler.
Who was your worst pick?
My worst pick was Chris Brown.
Who had the best pick in the draft?
Jon, It’s freaking LT! On a serious tip, John’s pilfering of Reggie Bush & Maurice Jones-Drew.
Whose pick had you shaking your head the most?
That’s really hard to say, because everybody wasn’t there for all or part of the draft. Besides, since no team auto picked Vick, then we will have to just wait and see.
Who do you think had the best draft?

Q&A
Did your pre-draft strategy work out?
For the first time, I actually used the autopick — but only after exhaustive pre-ranking of the top 150 players. In going through the draft results last nite, the computer selected who I would have chosen, with minimal exception. The only disappointmen came in the round 7 when the Baltimore defense went off the board a pick before I would have taken them. I ended up with Kevin Jones.
Were there any surprises?
I was stunned that LJ fell to me at number four.
What do you see as your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
Definitely happy with my team—especially since I wasn't there to draft it myself. My only discernable weakness is at defense (Denver), but I'll either upgrade there or simply play the match-ups every week. Getting Vinatieri was key (that position is set for the season), and I have depth at quarterback (Tom Brady and Brett Favre), running back (LJ, Brandon Jacobs, both Packers rushers and Kevin Jones), and wide receiver (Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, James Jones, Ronald Curry, and Joe Horn). Tight end could use a bit of an upgrade, but Chris Cooley is a bona fide sleeper, crazy value in round nine.
So in short, my team is choice. And I'm very excited for the season.
Who was your best pick?
Larry Johnson at No. 4
Who was your worst pick?
Denver’s defense
Who do you think had the best pick in the draft?
Todd Heap at pick 66.
Who’s pick had you shaking your head the most?
Tatum Bell @ 71.
Who do you think had the best draft?
Besides mine? John and Adam had good drafts.
Whose team do you think is the worst to start the season?

Q&A
What do you see as your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
Overall I was pretty enthused with the players that were selected for me. There is a clear weakness at quarterback however as the computer waited until the 13th round to draft me one. My wide receivers are more than I had hoped for and I feel my running backs are extremely solid. Plus Vernon Davis will be a beast.
Who was your best pick?
I would consider Anquan Boldin my best pick. I had stated before the draft that I expect big things from him this year and feel as he may possibly win me some games.
Who was your worst pick?
My worst pick would have to be Mark Clayton in the eighth. With some very serious quarterbacks available the computer felt the need to draft me yet another unnecessary wide receiver.
Who do you think had the best pick in the draft?
I really like what David Hale did. He got a lot of young players with huge upsides (Tatum Bell, Jerrious Norwood, Santonio Holmes) while also getting solid points in Steve Jackson, Torry Holt, and especially that Eagles D.
Whose pick had you shaking your head the most?
For Shaun Alexander to be the third pick in the draft seemed pretty absurd. Coming off injury, with a quarterback also off injury, and an offensive line still rebuilding since Steve Hutchinson left, I don’t know how you don’t take LJ, Joseph Addai or Frank Gore (Thanks).
Who do you think had the best draft?
Personally, I like myself and David’s team.
Whose team do you think is the worst to start the season?
I think Josh’s team looks real weak.

FLEX: Reggie Brown
TE: Jason Witten
K: Olindo Mare
DST: Bears
Bench: Jerricho Cotchery, Michael Turner, Alex Smith, Dominic Rhodes, Rex Grossman, Owen Daniels
Q&A
Did your pre-draft strategy work out?
I was hoping to move down in the draft and pull a Henry-McGahee 1-2 combo….but I couldn’t facilitate a trade in time and went with Addai-Benson- I’m happy with that.
Were there any surprises?
QBs went a little earlier than most prognostications/ mock drafts. So I had to grab Bulger in the 3rd round instead of waiting. Two QBs went between my 3rd and 4th pick, so he assuredly wouldn’t have been around.
What do you see as your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
I’m a fan of the team. I think I have a lineup that I can pretty much throw out every week without worry. I have a weak bench though.
Who was your best pick?
I suppose “best” is relative to their value per draft position. I like Vincent Jackson at No. 67 but if anything were to happen to L.T., Michael Turner at No. 102 becomes a big deal.
Who was your worst pick?
Worst pick is Jerramy Stevens. I wanted a backup tight end, and he was all that was left- I figure if Gruden wanted him, maybe he’ll make good use of him.
Who do you think had the best pick in the draft? Vaughn grabbed the Cowboys’ defense/special teams at 171 (that would have been a top 5 defense for me- maybe as high as 3). Ultimately, we might be looking at an auto-pick for Jon Bellwood at No.1 as the best pick.
Whose pick had you shaking your head the most?
No one took Mike Vick in the 3rd round oblivious to his troubles or jumped up and grabbed a guy with a broken leg or anything. Looking over the draft log I wonder why Pete took Marion Barber III in the third round (No. 35). That’s a round or two early for that guy- especially when passing over his teammate, T.O. (37), and settling on Lee Evans at (38)…
Who do you think had the best draft?
I like Nate and Steve’s teams.
Whose team do you think is the worst to start the season?
I don’t like Pete’s squad. He’ll probably smoke me now- but I just had a bunch of his players on my personal do-not-draft list for various reasons (Vince Young, Brian Westbrook, Hines Ward, etc.)

DST: Vikings

Q&A
Did your pre-draft strategy work out?
Sort of, but not as I had hoped. I did not give in to the trends and runs, but it was tough to get any depth at RB. I could have had some depth, but I felt I would have gotten better value at QB and WR (McNabb over Marion Barber, and Andre Johnson over Brandon Jacobs or Fred Taylor).
Were there any surprises?
How quickly the running backs left the board. Also some people taking defenses early, but I guess that happens in every draft.
What do you see as your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
I’m moderately happy with my team. I did not get McGahee like I was hoping, but I have Rudi Johnson and Cadillac as my backfield, however, my depth is a little shaky. McNabb should have a very solid year provided he stays healthy, and Todd Heap is always solid. My receivers are a strong point with Harrison, Andre Johnson, and Greg Jennings.
Who was your best pick?
My best pick I feel was Andre Johnson in round 5. He caught over 100 balls last year, and to grab him in round 5 was a steal.
Who was your worst pick?
My worst pick was Reuben Droughns. The fact that he is my third RB makes me sick to my stomach.
Who had the best pick in the draft?
I’m partial to my pick of Andre Johnson in round 5, but I think Jon’s pick of Dwayne Jarrett in the 14th round was very solid. He’s playing opposite Steve Smith who will be double teamed all year, so Jarrett should have some nice openings to work with.
Whose pick had you shaking your head the most?
The 2 defenses that were taken in the 7th round…yes I know they are the Ravens and Bears, but I can never justify taking a defense that early. Unfortunatly for Jon, he has one of the best picks and also one of the worst, in Deuce McAllister in the 2nd round. He could have had Edgerrin James, Thomas Jones, or Larry Fitzgerald. That’s way to early to pick a back who shares carries.
Who do you think had the best draft?
John has a solid team with young RBs Bush and Jones-Drew, WRs T.O., Calvin Johnson, and Darrell Jackson, QB Philip Rivers, TE Kellen Winslow, the Patriots defense and Shayne Graham who will get tons of points in Cincy. Pretty solid team all around.
Whose team do you think is the worst to start the season?
I would have to say Vaughn might not be looking so good right now. Their first pick was on Shaun Alexander, which isn’t so bad, but then they took Drew Brees in rd 2 (2 rounds too early) and Chester Taylor who will more than likely be giving carries away to Adrian Peterson. Taking Tony Gonzalez in rd 4 is a bit early as well, especially when you look at the Chiefs offense this year. Did I mention Vaughn was also the first team to draft a defense??

WR: Santana Moss
FLEX: Warrick Dunn
TE: Antonio Gates
K: David Akers
DST: Dolphins
Bench: Terry Glenn, Eli Manning, DJ Hackett, Leon Washington, Anthony Gonzolez, Joe Jurevius
Q&A
Did your pre-draft strategy work out?
I anticipated taking Manning as soon as I learned I had the 8th pick, but I changed things up a bit by taking Antonio Gates rather than a WR in the 4th round. It was an unconventional move, and my WR depth suffered as a result, but I figured having the top QB and TE is never a bad thing if you can swing it without making too big a sacrifice.
Were there any surprises?
I was pretty surprised by how long it took all the top wide receivers to get off the board. I expected most of the #1's to go in quick succession, but some top receivers (Houshmandzadeh, Javon Walker, Roy Williams, etc.) went 40-50 overall.
What do you see as your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
As I mentioned earlier, I'm happy to have the top QB and TE on the board. If Lynch and Henry can stay healthy and perform all year, my starting lineup has the potential to be dominant. That being said, I'm not pleased with my depth and will certainly be looking for an upgrade over Warrick Dunn at the flex position. Another caveat: I picked multiple starters with a bye the same week. Could lead to a blowout for Blackbeard that week, but hopefully it won't hurt too badly.
Who was your best pick?
Best pick: Anthony Gonzalez, WR, Colts, Round 15, 176 overall. Don't laugh; I took a flier on Gonzalez with my last pick because I remember what another Colts slot receiver did a few years back when Brandon Stokely had 10 TD's and lifted many fantasy teams to titles. I also thought snagging Travis Henry with the 17th overall pick could be a steal since he may very well provide 1st round value in the Denver system.
Who was your worst pick?
Worst pick: Terry Glenn, WR, Cowboys, Round 8, 89 overall. I may have reached for Glenn here. He's getting older, he's got nagging injuries, TO's healthier than he was last year, and there were several other receivers available who will likely provide better value.
Who do you think had the best pick in the draft?
Jim’s snagging Vincent Jackson in the 6th round, two picks after I took Santana Moss, absolutely killed me. I was hoping to pick up Jackson in the following round and I expect him to have a huge year in a San Diego offense that could be even more explosive than it was last season.
Whose pick had you shaking your head the most?
Nic took Kevin Jones in the 7th round and I'm still trying to figure out why. Jones isn't even going to be able to play for a good chunk of the season and Nic already had plenty of RB depth at this point.
Who do you think had the best draft?
If Lynch and Henry do as well as I think they can, I like my chances. Of course, unless LT gets hurt, this is Jon’s league to lose. Damn Brits.
Who’s team do you think is the worst to start the season?
If Travis Henry's knee injury is worse than feared, then my team could be terrible since my running back depth is non-existent. Andrew also has injury issues. If McNabb goes down again and Cadillac is ineffective again I don't think his receivers (even with Harrison and Andre Johnson) will be strong enough to carry him into the playoffs.

Q&A
Did your pre-draft strategy work out?
For the most part I was pleased with how things worked out. My draft strategy was to get the best athlete available. I had Maroney and Palmer rated much higher than most – Palmer was my top qb. No, really. Two
years ago, pre-injury, he put up the best numbers in the league. Last year he looked hobbled and still put up solid numbers. I’m hoping for a complete return to form this year. So from my draft strategy standpoint I got who I wanted. Now it’s boom or bust.
Were there any surprises?
Nope, played out about how I anticipated. RBs are always going quickly. This year I thought the crop was especially deep at RB and many of the second or third level guys are a toss-up. Ronnie Brown or Cadillac Williams? How the hell do you answer that? Which is why I went for Palmer and the WRs.
What do you see as your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
My weakness is absolutely my second starting running back. Peterson could be average. He could be spectacular. He’ll probably be a bit of both and injured for a few games somewhere along the way.
Who was your best pick?
Best pick was Maroney. I live or die with it.
Who was your worst pick?
My worst pick was the Steelers D, if only because I hate those scumbags. Actually, my worst pick may have been Watson. He’s just a body out there. A big, dumb body.
Who do you think had the best pick in the draft?
Getting Roy Williams in Round 5 was a steal. Same with Jamal Lewis at the end of Round 4. I’m a Browns guy and the talk in the local papers is that he looks reborn. Or is it recitivated after prison? Eh, whatever. Just run fast.
Whose pick had you shaking your head the most?
Deuce in the Second Round? Um, no.
Who do you think had the best draft?
I really like Adam's team. But then he has Pennington as
his starter. Jesus. Andrew's squad looks very good. I also
like my team.

It went exactly how I planned it. I had the 10th and 15th picks, so I was able to nab McGahee and Willie Parker.
Were there any surprises?
I expected there to be an early run on RBs, so nothing really shocked me.
What do you see as your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
I think my team is very solid. I have proven guys at every position, and not too many question marks.

My best pick might have been Larry Fitzgerald in the 4th round. I think he’s going to have a monster year.
Who was your worst pick?
My worst pick was Isaac Bruce, because the screen froze for a few minutes before my pick. I wanted Mike Furrey in that spot.
Who do you think had the best pick in the draft?
David Hale getting Clinton Portis in the 3rd round might have been the biggest steal.

Q&A
Did your pre-draft strategy work out?
Yes, I picked up 2 stud RB’s in the first and second even though I was the 12th pick; then got a stud QB and WR in the 3rd and 4th. I changed my plan of going after RBs in the first 4 rounds due to a run on QBs. After that, I went after everything but RBs until it was too late to get a decent #3.
Were there any surprises?
Yes, there was an early run on QB’s that I didn’t expect. That made me change my plan a bit and go after a stud QB and then I missed out on a decent No. 3 RB.
What do you see as your team’s strengths and weaknesses?
I like my team….I picked up some rookies who can make some impact ala Reggie Bush did last year. I wish I had that third RB to make me feel good each week. I’m strong at RB, QB, and WR, but will struggle with my bench. I will have to see how it pans out.
